Head of Environmental and Permitting Compliance

Join us in this role where you’ll have the opportunity to craft our strategy related to environmental and permitting compliance, as a line manager working with our various teams and consultants across multiple renewable technologies. Your role will include hiring, process management, gap analysis, leading the implementation and auditing of tools, compliance frameworks, trainings, and more.

Welcome to NA Permitting, Environment, and Marine Affairs

You’ll be part of Environment and Marine Affairs where you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for regional decisions, strategy, and driving priorities, as one of the collaborative members of the PEMA Management Team. You’ll work across projects, leading all efforts regarding environmental and permitting compliance, which includes interfacing with key external stakeholders such as BSEE, BOEM, BLM, USFWS, USACE, USCG, NMFS, and state and local agencies.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • facilitating compliance activities related to environmental and permitting requirements through all phases, incl. providing strategic inputs to development phase decisions and potential acquisitions
  • proactively communicating and collaborating with key internal stakeholders, incl. EPC teams, Site Investigation, Operations, QHSE, and Legal, to ensure all are aware of compliance requirements
  • ensuring tools, guidebooks, operating procedures, and trainings are kept current, project specific, and in harmony with other teams and shared with relevant consultants, contractors, and employees
  • creating and maintaining monitoring, reporting, and auditing programs across the portfolio, emphasizing data collection standardization and trend spotting
  • serving as a manager that recruits and retains diverse talent, and as member of the PEMA Management Team, where you’ll drive efficiency and cost-reduction work streams and priorities across our portfolio.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold a master’s degree or equivalent experience in environmental science or environmental policy, engineering, construction management, natural resources, or another relevant field
  • have significant experience leading teams and managing people, incl. recruiting and hiring, career growth and development, and performance management, with an emphasis on a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team
  • have an understanding of renewable energy projects and a familiarity with construction and operational activities, incl. wildlife monitoring and mitigation, acoustic measurements, SPCC Plans, and SWPPPs
  • are experienced with auditing and compliance tool creation, management, and tracking for internal standards, standard operating procedures, permit conditions of approval, and stakeholder commitments
  • communicate with honesty and influence to enhance messaging regarding our activities as an organisation
  • speak and write English fluently and have strong Microsoft Office suite skills.
