We transformed from a fossil fuel company to a global green energy leader in a decade
Today, we’re the global leader in offshore wind with a 25 % market share. But we used to be a fossil fuel company.
In 2008, we did a complete rethink of our business strategy. We began to increase our investments in offshore wind farms and to convert our power stations from coal to sustainable biomass. In 2017, we divested our oil and gas business.
We now develop, construct, and operate:
- offshore and onshore wind farms,
- solar centres,
- energy storage facilities,
- renewable hydrogen and green fuels facilities,
- and bioenergy plants.
Our ambition is to have built 35-38 GW of renewable capacity across all green energy technologies by 2030, including 20-22 GW in offshore wind capacity.
Our one remaining coal-fired power plant will be shut down by 2024.
By 2025, we aim to reduce carbon emissions from our energy generation and operations (Scopes 1-2) by at least 98 % compared with 2006.
