Ensuring we hire best-in-class, diverse talent
To mitigate bias, we’ve woven EDI into every step of our recruitment process. We have guidelines for hiring managers to ensure we foster an inclusive recruitment process, creating equal opportunities for all. Our hiring managers undergo mandatory recruitment training, including how to mitigate bias. Our Talent Acquisition Partners are the guardians of our hiring commitments, which include creating an inclusive experience for all candidates.
Overall, our recruitment process focuses on hiring for ‘culture add’ rather than ‘culture fit’. This approach ensures we continuously enrich our existing culture with diverse and valuable contributions rather than merely replicating it.
For us, inclusive hiring isn't just about meeting diversity goals; it's about achieving optimal hiring, period. It's expanding the pool of applicants to ensure we don't limit ourselves by boxing in with biases and preconceived notions. It's about recognizing that the best talent isn't always found in familiar places or existing networks. It's assembling a team that observes challenges from all angles, ensuring that every decision is informed, every innovation is inspired, and every outcome is impactful.
Equal pay for work of equal value
We’re committed to ensuring equal pay for equal work or work of equal value. Our career map and salary structures are based on gender-neutral criteria, and we’re continuously working on improving our tools and processes to ensure that the principle of equal pay is upheld in the organisation.
Paid parental leave for all employees
We support our people in growing their families – regardless of how their family is made up, how their child became part of it, and how they identify. That’s why we have a global parental leave policy that provides 20 weeks of fully paid leave for employees as primary caregiver for their newborn babies and 12 weeks for the secondary caregiver. It’s applicable to all employees – no matter where in the world they’re based, their location, gender, and the work they do.
Recognising extraordinary EDI achievements
They say that ‘teamwork makes the dream work’. And we couldn’t agree more. That’s why our recognition programme houses an ‘Ørsted Team Award’, which promotes team recognition and offers team celebration. The award is granted by our Group Executive Team twice a year to teams that have made extraordinary achievements within themes that are key to our company’s success. To refute the importance of EDI at Ørsted, one of these themes is ‘include diversity in the team and in Ørsted’.
